To Die For

Projects Gallery is pleased to present To Die For from April 2 - May 1, 2010. To Die For is one of 95 exhibitions that are part of INDEPENDENCE: The 44th Annual National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) conference taking place in Philadelphia from March 31 – April 3, 2010.

Whether in effigy pots, vase paintings, or offerings to the dead, ceramics has always been a significant material in the world of the rituals of death, spirituality, and transformation. Dealing with the nature of mortality, issues of loss, hosts, ghosts, surrounding fears, and the meaning of life or afterlife, To Die For is co-curated by Judith Schwartz and Jack Thompson. Featuring work by: Lesley Baker, Jill Marleah Bell, Mark Burns, Richard Cleaver, Atilla Dabasi, Kristine (Tinne) Debruijne, John DeFazio, Harris Deller, Janice Farley, David Furman, Peter Gourfain, Frank Hyder, Margaret Keelan, Kathy King, Charles Krafft, Todd Leech, Kate Missett, Gregg Moore, Sana Musasama, Matt Nolen, Denise Pelletier, Allison Petroski, Mel Rubin, Kathy Ruttenberg, Bonnie Seeman, Arun Sharma, Richard Shaw, Susanne G. Stephenson, Jessica Stoller, Cheryl Tall, Ehren Tool, and Monica Van den Dool.

An Opening Reception will be held on First Friday April 2nd, 2010, 6-9 P.M.
